Today we travelled away to Dalkeith, and despite losing the match, our girls put in their best team performance of the season (so far). The first half was a very even match up, and we defended extremely well against a strong Dalkeith attack. Although that attacking strength from Dalkeith pushed through and they manage to get a couple goals. This could have been more, if not for a couple extremely great saves from Hollie in goals, including getting a very strong left hand to a shot heading in to the top corner and pushing it over the bar. Despite this, the first half ended 3-0 to the home team.

There were a lot of positives at the half time team talk and our girls were very optimistic about the second half. This showed when a few minutes into the restart, Millie made a bursting run from midfield straight through the heart of Dalkeith's defence and managed to put the ball past the Dalkeith keeper. This lead to an increase in our energy levels and the girls pushed on again and again. Similar to her first goal, Millie, burst through from midfield and again slotted the ball home. Dalkeith then managed to get another a few minutes later to make the score 4-2 going in to the last 10 minutes of the game. By this point our girls started to tire slightly and this allowed the strong Dalkeith midfield and attack to gain a little control and go on to score a further 3 goals.

Although we may have lost the game today, the fact that we scored twice, defended better than we have before, had more control in midfield than we have had before and made the top of the table team know that they were in a battle, felt like a bit of a victory.
